Think Beyond Dowry, Think of Happiness
In
conventional times, dowry was given to help a newly married couple to make them
financially stable. But it has become a curse for today's society. Its side
effects are very frightening for all from a newly married to those who are
married for years now. Though various laws are enforced to prohibit the
practice of dowry, but our roots are drenched so deep into it that taking it
away so soon is almost impossible. Everyone from me to you has become a part of
it, supported it somehow.
What is
the way out?
Well,
to think of a possible solution to curb this dowry system, we, at first, need
to change our priorities. Some of us think about finding a groom who is
financially secured and prefer boys having government jobs. While there are
boys who are into private jobs in big companies and are earning more than
enough to serve their living. No doubt, job security is of prime importance,
but finding someone who fits your expectations is important as well.
Marriages
in India are considered to be a sacred ceremony; it's a relation of love and
respect and not a deal that demands the exchange of the groom for money, asset,
or property.
How to curb the dowry
system?
Educate your daughters and
motivate them to be independent. Also, stop searching for grooms having
government jobs just for the sake of job security. Good companies and profiles
in the private sector as well as Professionals, Businessmen also relish the same job security with multiple
benefits that people with government jobs lack.
Don’t let dowry decide your
future.
Look for happiness, not job
security. The happiness of your daughter is precious; make it your priority.
Make sure the groom you pick can keep her happy and contented, no matter what
job he does.
